Common Culture

So what festivals are you all going to this year? I am thinking Balaton Sound because it's a safe bet for a holiday as well as good music and there are bands as well as DJ's. I am also thinking Soundwave and if anyone has ever been? It could be a holiday after the festival but it could also prove to be a failure.

Anyway, some of you are aware I have a poetry blog as well  as a 'Common Culture' blog which I think I should really update. I have not done it in a whole and it is a good place to actually have an opinion about London culture and what is going on. Expect updates shortly.  I am going to try and update it as much as I can now I have started writing again.

If you know of any poetry cafés or groups in the Hackney area do let me know.

Absolutely loving the purple hair at the moment. I have a way to go before I can pull of the looks below, but If i dip dye it for a bit and see how it goes...
Kelly Osbourne looks amazing these days with her quirky hair, especially in this shoot.

Alabama Shakes

Been listening to this band for just over 12 hours. I have been on the late shift at work and Hugh Stevens loves to sarande me while I am in the office on my own. Amazing opening lyrics: 'Bless my heart. Bless my soul, didnt think I'd made it to 23 years old'

Formed in 2009 in, yes you guessed it - Alabama. The Bn are made up of Brittany Howard, Heath Foog, Zac Cockrell and Steve Johnson.

'Hold On' is their debut single in the UK - Literally happiness in a can. Imagine driving on a Sunday afternoon, through the country and listening to this in the car.

Monday

Paris FW AW/12-13

So I have been a little lazy when it comes to following London, Paris and Milan Fashion Week - however I have been keeping updated through Vogue and all your blogs so I feel I am not completely missing out on everything.

Now I have moved I am trying to do more shopping online instead of going to the shops, or at least see what the designers are doing and copy it from my own standards.

Haider Ackermann's show was something of interest to me, The Columbian designer focused on tight silhouette's and jackets which are all colours I adore. Darker pallettes are my forté and their was some urban spirit in the displays of leather, fold and zips.

Celine's show was very spring - despite being the A/W 12-13 collection I saw a lot of sailor boy influences adn reminded me of Matisse's art work of right angle shapes. It was fierce yet stylish and bold. The simplicity of colours was what really cuaght my eye, as I am not a huge fan of brights.
Instead of a show was a presentation

Chloe show was something which was beautifuly filled with pastel pinks and creams. Oversized coats teamed with smart workwear, which was light and feminine.
